Does an MSD box replace the HEI module?

Just what the subject says, this is for a non computer controlled HEI.

*before anyone says the 6al box is worthless, this is going in a 406, 11:1 compression, big heads, big cam, ect, ect. Not a stock lg4 LOL

Yes, it can do. Just follow the instructions carefully. If you are missing them, go onto the MSD website and download them. When I did mine, I had trouble getting the trigger wires from the msd box through the dizzy cap and getting them secured well enough. Did it in the end though.

Ironically I have an 86 camaro lg4 with an MSD 6al box

Andy.

Thanks for the help!

No offense about the lg4 thing... i've just seen a lot of guys get flamed for using the box's on here because they're "worthless"

The MSD box will replace the 4 pin ignition module in a non-CCC distributor entirely.

It will not replace the ignition module in a computer controlled distributor. Firing the coil will be done by the box, but the timing functions of the module are still needed.

Just fyi msd has an excellent forum on their site. If you post a question the msd guys come back right away with an answer. I have a 6al with a mag pickup and adj timing control, they helped me out when I had a problem.
