How many times have you tried to start it after you replaced the battery? Also when you first tried to start it after the battery change and it wouldn't start, did you sit there turning the key to start or did you let it sit for about 5 minutes before trying again? There is a built in time out feature on these cars and a dead battery will sometimes cause the problem you described because the computer lost memory and must relearn.
