Fuel pump wiring?

Where does the main fuel pump power line come from? Does it come off the fump relay? I am installing an aftermarket inline fuel pump onto my car and changing to TPI so I do not have the wiring and need to run it. Thanks
Tony

Check out this from: https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/ and if you click on the "1986 Wiring Diagrams" it will take you to this site: http://92b4crs.tripod.com/86wiring/86wiringindex.html
From there look up the wiring on the fuel-injected car by clicking on Engine Control, Computer Command Control(VIN G), and click on page 5. It will take you here: http://92b4crs.tripod.com/86wiring/dia-pics/23-4.jpg

I was just wiring up my walbro fuel pump in my car last weekend. It used to be a carb now its fuel-injected. On my 86 T/A the wiring is kind of already there.

First you need a TPI sending unit and a in-tank fuel pump. To swap sending units you need to take off the rear axle and drop the gas tank. For wiring - basically, you follow back the power wire that connects to your fuel pump. That wire is already there for some reason. I followed it back all the way to underneath the dash just in case the schematics were wrong. I cut it before it went to connector under the dash and wired to the fuel pump there. Left the end that was to the connector disconnected. This connector is found under the dash, behind the side kick panel. You wire that wire to the fuel pump relay.

You will have three wires that come from the sending unit. Ground wire, fuel gauge wire, and fuel pump wire. Ground wire will go to ground. Inside of the car: My fuel gauge wire was pink, my fuel pump wire was tan.

This is what was there for my 86 T/A, other years might be different.
