i am wondering if i wired incorrectly after putting new ends on starter wires? i have a purple and a red on the small post. and 3 rwires to the lug terminal. i think the red to the smal post is wrong. any input appreciated

 

You are correct sir, you have made a big BOO-BOO. Only the purple wire goes on the small post, all other wires go on the large post.

the problem is i looked at the old terminal end and it is a small hole. this is the big red wire from the post on the alternator. the small red, 2 red from the drivers side harness, and the big battery cable are connected to the starter lug. purple is on the post. i dont sem to remember 5 wires on the lug. shouldnt this big red be to a junction block? or to the battery? what in gods name have i done????

 

and why would you have 2 wires from the alternator to the starter? maybe some1 can shed some light....
