No charge situation.. car stuck at friends house

I finished my motor swap and all the wiring is the same... nothing has changed.

I got a new batt and alternator.... and the thing wont charge....wtf what chould i check

is it possible that i cannot ground properly to my aluminum heads( if so where to ground to)

can it be a bad starter solenoid( needs to be replaced anyhows) ie high resistance etc...

bad wires... im not sure wat wires are supposed to go to the solenoid but i put the ones with the big loops on the big bolt and the ones with the lil loops on the lil bolt... what wires should be where?!?!

Is it the same type starter that was on the car before ?

May check your 'fan' fuse (20A) as well.

Sorry about that bud.. I meant alt(ernator) but, apparently I pulled the alcohonym of alt., 'starter', out of my a** from somewhere and typed it instead

The (not sure if this is the correct term.. rectifier? -->) alt is powered/switched by the juice comming from the 'fan' fuse under the dash. This is a switched power supply. W/o power from here, the alt will not do much of anything.

Also check for +12v on the harness plug at the alt with the car on. If you don't have 12v on both (key on or running), there may be a break in the circuit somewhere.

That's a very good question about aluminum heads, I've never really thought about it. I'd try grounding somewhere else, run a ground from the alt to the chassis maybe? If the alt is spinning it should be charging the battery- is the alt decent quality? I've had new stuff come out of the box broken.

To the best of my knowledge (which isn't sayiong much, heh), aluminium is a somewhat better conductor of electricity over cast iron. I couldn't imagine that being a problem.
