Question about gauges wiring
Hey everyone I am in the middle of swapping a 92 dash into my 88 camaro. i am DETERMINED to use the factory 92 gauges. However, I need some info to splice the 92 gauges wiring into my car.
I need to know if someone out there has a listing of what each wire in the 88 cluster does. For example, if a pink/black wire is for the oil pressure, what wire in the 92 cluster does that? This is so I can splice it into the car and get it working.
If ANYONE can help me I would really appreciate it.

Not to be an ***, but a Chiltons or a factory service manual would be your best be. Something with good wiring schematics

Chiltons would be of virtually no use in this case since they are too generic in their wiring schematics. He needs a schematic of the pin connectors for the 88 and 92 instrument clusters.

Hey guys thanks for the advice. Yeah I have the Chiltons but no use. What me and my friend decided MIGHT work was to put the connectors in the 92 gauges and physically trace each wire to its path on the printed circuit to decipher what does what. We're about to do the same for the wiring in my car and then start matching each wire with the right one. Hopefully this all works out and I'll have a fully operational 92 gauge cluster tomorrow

Hey I have another quick question. On the back of the 92 gauges there are these two little blue things. Some of the printed circuitry goes into them and me and my friend have no idea what they are. Can anyone tell me what those might be and what they do?

Outstanding. I can't thank you guys enough for your help. You have no idea how badly I've wanted to get these gauges, and since I got the whole dash-gauges too- for $25, I WILL get them working in my car. If people can get a 4th gen dash in there, I know I can do this. Thanks!

BTW, on your 88 cluster do you have the gages or indicators in it? Also, another thing that you might want to consider here. The 92 speedometer is an electronic model and the 88 speedometer is a mechanical model.

Funny, I have a Chiltons for my car and it's got specific schematics
Haynes on the other hand are worthless.

Sure does, just like in the factory manual. I'm talking about the model specific Chiltons, not the cheesy ones that cover all makes/models for a particular year.

I guess those pinouts are gonna come in REAL handy these next couple days. We put in the cluster tonight. The tach, battery, and temp gauges all work. The speedo I know wouldn't work because it isn't wired in yet. However, the oil pressure and gas gauges don't work. So basically the left side of the cluster doesn't work. Strangely though, the lights for the speedo work. Also, with the engine running, the oil pressure reads in the red, but I know for damned sure my oil pressure isn't that low. When you turn on the headlights, the oil gauge goes down to zero, so it's electrical.
My friend is pretty sure he wired everything up right, and I trust his work. Could it be that because the speedo isn't wired in, there's an open in the circuit for that side of the cluster and that's why the other gauges don't work?
