I have removed stock intake and carburetor and all sensors but the temp. I put edelbrock performer intake and a holly 650 spread bore and a set of hooker shorty headers. I’m using the stock distributor and on the lowest idle on the carburetor the rpm are at 2000. I put it in gear it goes down a bit but as speed increases it advances with little to no gas like a stuck throttle feeling. I have done my best to read the Chilton wiring diagram for the firing order for distributor cap placemen and lined the rotor to the no 1 spark plug on cap at TDC. A little help on how this distributor works and what components it uses to determine the advancement of spark as well as a diagram would be awesome.

 

The computer you just disconnected controls the advance. No computer, no advance. Time for a new distributor!
