I have a 1986 Transam, was with LG4 and carb, and TH700R4. Now I am going to buy kit from B&M for the lockup, but I am not sure if I should buy for mechanic or electronic.

Is anybody out there that can clear it out for me.

AFAIK, all '86 Firebirds had the VSS mounted on the transmission, and no speedometer cable. Mine does. since your's may be an export model, it may be different, however. If there is no bowden cable from the transmission to the instrument cluster, you have an electric speedometer.

One easy way to tell is go in a empty parking lot and shut your car off while your rolling if the speedo dies its electric if it goes untill you stop its mechanical. Allot easier then checking for the cable or anything else
