Rear defrost might be working improperly.

I have noticed that when I turn on the rear defroster, it will only defrost a few portions of the back window. About 10 or so of the defrost lines will work and the rest are not. What could be causing this slight annoyance and what is a cure?

The foil that is fused to the glass may be broken in several places. An analog meter or test light works well for diagnosing this. There are kits available to repair broken sections, complete with an oxidizing coating that colors the repair the same as the original foils.

Would you know where I could get one of these kits or maybe send me a link? I don't know what you mean by coloring the repair the same as the original. Do the kits come in different colors or something? Also, if there is tint on the window will that make it harder to repair? THANKS

Autozone carries them, made by Permatex I think around $15 bucks or so.

SOB, I'd rather just forget about the defroster if the tints gotta come off. I read in my Chiltons book about how to repair it tho, seems fairly easy and painless. I also used a DVOM to check the voltage in the coil lines. Easy enough. Thanks much!
