Hello im new here but ive known about the site for a while ive seen lots of helpfull things and cool stuff as well. As of now (Rebecca) my baby is wigging out on me. I get to turn on my car for about 10mins then she struggles to stay on and then shuts off. Also i can only do this so many times then my battery gets drained. Ive tested the alternator and battery when its on and they check out good according to the hayes manual ( i know its not the best manual) and the voltage meter is reading on the positive side. the battery is new and the alternator i changed a year ago, I have a new fuel pump so i know that elminates that im stumped

 

There are many possibilities. Weak ignition/HEI module, poor fuel pressure, leaking injectors of FPR, incorrect TPS, vacuum leaks, etc. We'll have to have a little more information before starting in a direction.

Are there any error codes stored in the ECM? Does the "Check Engine" lamp remain lit while the engine is running?

 

I've noticed right before it shuts off my tachometer goes on the fritz my rpms start bouncing everywhere when im not even giving any gas? I get no check engine light, whoever had it before me took out sensors and the smog equip left a lot of loose wires. I dunno where 1/2 of the go.

 

Well i got the starting problem fixed my hazard lights were grounding out my car =(... Now for my car staying on it has a rough idle and soon i start driving my tach goes crazy and it almost shuts off. I already checked egr, and got no vaccum leaks gona check tps,plugs,distr&cap...etc wish me luck
