Is there anyone here that lives near me that wouldnt mind coming over my house and takling a look at my car for me. 91 rs convertible, 305 auto. i have a brand new battery and the thing keeps dieing and then i get no power at all. no lights no nothing. until i hook up my jump starter. then it will start and then die a few minutes later, is my battery not working or is my alternator shot? and i could use a little help tryin to identify some wires under my hood.

id say replace the alt. sounds like the voltage regulator is shot

 

thats what i was kinda thinking, the jump gives the motor enough to start but the alt isnt keeping the power so it just dies when the power is gone. I'll give that a shot and see what happens.

well, i replaced the alt and ran the car for a little while and now i'm getting leftover charge when i shut the car down, but still not enough to start the car.

how long should it take to charge the battery? and start without a jump? I need to get a new wireing harness completely and start clean with the wires. or just put in a tpi motor and wire kit
