VAT Revisited-Need some more help
Previously I posted a request for assistance and got the assistance I needed. Now the problem has returned. I diabled the VAT with the appropriate resistor (as previoulsy posted). Originally I just wrapped the resistor wires around the leads put in the key and cranked. Engine cranked over then I let off before it started, well now i'm back where I started-Nothing, replaced the resistor and this time soldered it to the wire leads and still nothing.
What the heck am I missing, battery is fuly charged, lights, radio etc work-just won't start. Is there a relay I need to look at somewhere and if so where.
For the record 90 RS 305/Automatic. Thanks in advance for whatever help can be rendered.

This probably isn't a vats problem.... Little more info on your side would help, but what previous post?

If the car cranks then VATS isn't the issue.
Basic rundown of VATS - the vats module detects the key, if the correct key resistance is present 2 things happen - the vats module will ground a starter enable relay allowing the engine to crank and it will also send a signal to the ECM (30Hz square wave iirc), the ECM will then enable the injectors. If it's cranking then vats isn't the issue, get back to the basics - fuel or spark.

Sorry guys not my best. Previously (Topic Title "VATS"posted 2/18/06 ) I had posted a request for assistance with refernece to the VATS and the replacement resistor, and I received confirmation that the direction I was headed was correct with respect to the resistor values. In a nutshell there is no Cranking available at this point and wasn't then. All systems with the exception of the ignition are fine, the car was running prior to the sudden "dead in the water". Checked battery-new and fully charged, lights work, dash lights, radio all work-Nothing from the starter.
I purchased the resistor that matched the key, installed it, put the new no-pellet GM key in ignition switch, car cranked over -I stopped cranking it to take a call and went back to the car 5 minutes later same as before-nothing from the starter, everything else still works-but no crank no clicking as would come froma bad solonoid and the Security Light is back on as it was before.
I hope this is a better explanation then before. Is there a starter relay somewhere that could have gone bad that I'm missing maybe? Any help would be appreciated

Well it worked once so you must have been going in the right direction. I'd check your connections and make sure your resistors and everything are still hooked up. Also make sure the plug to the steering column switch is unplugged, could still be shorting out somewhere giving a false resistance reading.
