heater only works on speeds 2 and 3 and only out defrost

my heater only blows out the defrost and the 4 speed blower motor only has speeds 2 and 3. What gives here? Could the resisitor be bad? I recently added all Auto meter gauges and a new FAST ECM to my car so I tore out 99% of the stock wiring that I didnt need. Well, one of those wires was a ground for the blower motor and I ened up having to ground it to the frame right near the motor. Not sure if this hasd anything to do with my problems but I figured I would mention it anyways.

works on vaccum. pull out havac unit and see if the lines are hooked up properly.

the vaccum line run through the center of the firewall.

also check to see if your doors are working. by doors I am saying the door that diverts the air in dash.

If you need help with wiring I have the helms manual and will go through it with you

well that was what I was thinking as well but I still cant get the motor to run all all 4 speeds. Im not too worried about the heater only blowing out the defrost right. its better there then the other areas. I just want HIGH

two things

1. The heaterbox door works off of the vacuum that comes from the big ball behind the inner fender on the driver side, if that's cracked and won't hold vacuum, then it or the cruise control won't work. You can take the line coming through the firewall and hook it up to a vacuum source on the intake if you can find one and it will work fine.

2. The fan has a high speed relay where the fan and A/C dryer is at, one is for the A/C, the other is the fan.

Here's a link that might prove useful for the pics if nothing else:

Another possible source of the vac leak is the where the vac harness slips onto the switch (rear of HAVC control head itself), which sometimes leaks.

This may be slightly off topic, but ... is it normal when you turn start your car, you won't get any airflow through your vents at all if you turn on your heater ? I have to run my defroster for at least 10 minutes and then turn to heater to get some airflow through the vents.
