From the begining to the end they did change motors i'm not sure what year they did the change over but i have a 1990 and tried to use a headlight from earlier and it would not work.

Mǿtǿr change was 87. Went frǿm 3 wire/seperate relays tǿ 2 wire wik a single headlight mǿdule.

As far as physically fitting with the 89 panels... no clue. I don't see why it wouldn't though. The trim bezel might be a little different.
The the basic chassis/rad support didn't change 82-92 so it will bolt in place.

The older 1982-86 three-wire headlight motors will fit the newer Firebirds. However I recommend against swapping them for several reasons. First off, the wiring is completely different and would also need to be changed to have them be functional. Second the older style motors were a LOT more problematic than the 1987-92 two-wire motors.

Ok so if I just had the '84 brackets and used my '89 bezels would the newer style motors bolt on?

Headlight bucket and bezel are the same, so that would be a yes.
