alt questions.

I am in need of a new alt for my car. I thought I had a life time warranty one, but the first time you replace it under warranty, you are then stuck w/o any warranty at all after that (what kinda bs is that?).

Since my car seems to love frying alts, Id like to get a more durable one. Mind you, I have NO electronic parts in the car, no power options, no radio, zilch. All I have are eng electronics, fans, lights, power hatch.

What would be a good alt, close/same amp ratings, that will hold up to the southern heat and not fry. Yet at the same time, I wont kill my checkbook either.

You need to put the best one in the first time and it will cost less in the
long run. In my cars I use 140 amp alts. This way they are never
overtaxed. Now about that warrantee......... it has to be reasonable. Your
new alt can’t fail in a month, you get your free replacement, it fails in a
month and the store says your even.</FONT>

did you use the alt to charge a dead or very low battery? that will smoke most alternators pretty fast.

where did you buy it at?
a life time warranty does not mean just till it dies the first time, at least thats not what it means here in Texas.
i would go back & ask about it again, if they say the same thing, then you should contact someone about consumer fraud.

i know most lifetime warranties are limited lifetime at 'zone and advance you get one replacement then that is warranted for 90 days after that your beat.

I'm on my second replacement radiator from advance auto over the course of five or more years. The last time they even replaced it without having any record of it since changing their computer system and me losing the original receipt!! Maybe it varies from one store manager to another.

Maybe you should take a very close look at your electrical/charging system to see WHY you keep "frying alts".
