What's that sensor:

What's that sensor:

On an 86 Trans Am with the 5L TPI. standing in front of the car looking down at the radiator. On the left (I think) a 1/4 of the way down there is a cable plugging in to a sensor that is screwed in to the Radiator tank. The last gut has put aftermarket massive electric fans on, but they are on all the time.

I wanted to try and find a sensor or original cable that I could hook up a relay to and get these fans to turn on when it reaches the right temp.

So firstly does anyone know what that sensor is or what sort of cable I'm looking for if there would be one left un used.

Thanks all.

Francis.

I own an early 86 TransAm with 5L TPI. I have owned the car since its birth and there was never any sensor on my radiator. Maybe the sensor you are seeing was added later in 86 or maybe a previous owner added the sensor you are seeing.

I meant to add that I think the original temp sensor is/was on the passenger side of the block, near/just above the starter?? And the fan came on at around 230 something??
