Intermittant Dead,Dead,Dead
Thanks to all who have helped me with questions for my husband's 700r4 to T5 conversion project. Our 1988 Camaro V6 RS is still not on the road as it has been much more involved than any of the the tech articles, unfortunately.
To update, we used a T5 and clutch from an 85 Camaro. Replaced the Auto chip in the ECM for one for a T5. Transmission is in and there were problems with the transmission. Drove 75 miles to exchange it, and when he got it in, it vibrated so badly inside the car it shook your teeth!............Discovered an 85 is an externally balance motor, and an 88 is internally balanced. So after already surfacing the flywheel, it had to come out. And naturally there were none to be found West of the Rockies without paying $300 at the dealership. So ordered one online, and just to let those interested know, online ordering through Auto Parts Network has been a very good experience. Now flywheel from Missouri has come and been installed, but the transmission has bad syncros. It is guaranteed, we just need to drive up there to let them see..........Now to current problem!
Our vehicle does not have Vats, however we had a problem in January with it shutting down completely. No dome lights, no dash lights, no start, nothing. He checked the wiring, and power is there. In January we thought maybe it might be a shorted cell in the battery, so we replaced it. Now it has happened again just when we need to drive it back up North to replace the tranny. He has checked and rechecked cables, wires, and grounds. What on earth next? He has run out of ideas.
After working on it steadly for 2 1/2 months, We need to get this car on the road before he "blows" it up, litterally!
Please any ideas would be appreciated.

Car: 1992 Camaro RS - not real slow anymore...
Engine: SPDC 360 MAF EFI /w a Holley Stealth Ram
Transmission: T5 untill it blows up from to much torque
Axle/Gears: Ford 9" /w auburn pro & 3.89's
If this was a VATS problem, the power wouldnt shut off. The computer would recognize an incorrect chip resistance from the key and kill the fuel injectors. Same concept as the "clear flood mode." Did your husband check all of the fuses? Including the 4 or 5 under the hood called fusible links? There is an open circuit going on somewhere. My money is going on an ignition switch or a wire around it.

Intermittent Dead, Dead, Dead!
Well, My husband spent one whole night following wires and connections redoing and cleaning connections. He thinks he found the problem, and so far so good.
After replacing front and rear brakes, rear shocks, it is finally on the road!
For those that have helped in answering questions, again I thank you. For those who wish to do this 700R4 to T5 in the future, be sure to take into consideration such things as motor to transmission years for the externally or internally balanced motors and flywheels, as that was never mentioned to us. Also since ours is an 88 RS V6 and was only made for sale in CA, TX, & FL, in 87 only in CA, we had to change a relay in the Prom.
All runs great, but what a learning experience.
