My ghetto Viper Alarm is driving me nuts! Won't start!
So I ripped out the interior of the car, and in the process, unplugged all the wires from the viper alarm on my car, now this thing never really worked right, i.e. a 350 pound man could run up to my car and belly flop the side of it and it wouldn't go off, even if he was moving at the speed of a freight train. Anyways, it was there when I got the car.
Now, I have no interior in it really, so alarm was disconnected... I wired up my B&M Megashifter, which I'm pretty sure is all good, because when I turn the key I hear the electric gas pump turn on, and all the lights turn on etc, but when I go to crank, nadda. So I hook up my alarm again, still won't crank.. Alarm either goes nuts, or doesn't make any noise, but still not letting me crank. Only reason I wanted to run the car so bad is to test my new exhaust gaskets.. so anyways.. Anyone know where I can find information on these alarms? I have none of the original info for it. It's a crappy alarm that just basically locks and unlocks the doors for me, and stops me from starting my car

First thing I'd double-check is the wiring job on the park-neutral switch.
I'd also check the mechanical install of that switch. It should click as you move it out of park. There's some slop between the switch and the bracket; if you don't get it right sometimes it can move the tab on the switch but not actually depress it.
There's also the "optional" circuit they include with the shifter. It's not really "optional" if you want your car to work right. I had idling problems until I put that relay in (the car thougt it was in park and dropped the idle down when you put it into drive).
Then I'd check the starter enable relay under the left-hand kickpanel shroud (you might have to dig it out of some tar-like sealant muck they use in there).
When that guy goes out it usually causes a click--nada situation.

I'm PRETTY sure it's the alarm... I have an optional relay installed, and like I said, when I turn the key to the "on" position fuel pump turns on, all the engine lights turn on etc, but when I go to crank, I just watch the engine temp gauge get really high.. nothing turns over. The car alarm normally does a simliar thing, and goes bananas. However, I don't here a click, and my car started before all this shifter mess.. But I don't think I unplugged my alarm then, it wasn't until recently (pulling the carpet out) that I unplugged it because it was in my way getting to the radio pod.. I just want to know how this stupid alarm works
I'll go over my wiring of the car.
**EDIT** My relay isn't the exact one, as radioshack doesn't exist anymore in canada, so I had to buy a different relay from an electronics store.

Probably the starter disable for the alarm. Find your starter wire, in your 89 it should be a yellow wire in the ignition harness. See if it has been cut and had two other wires spliced in. If so remove those wires and reconnect the starter wire.
I have an alarm on mine and suffer from fear factor. Afraid to take it out myself. Thing stranded me once because the button on the remote broke and I only have one left. Hate the thing....was from hell until I lifted the ground on the panic sirene...hate it.
