Wire to Tranny...?

I got a Mut of a car. 86 - Z28 Convertible (verts didn't start till 87), with a 92 dash, and Wiend Blower, with natural asperated carburator. I baught it like that, *sigh* and the previous owner sucked at everything. So i'm rebuilding the engine (383 .040 over) and pulling all the unused wiring that used to run the TPI.

I've pretty much been able to get rid of EVERY wire comming in through the passenger side fire wall (99% going to ECM) except for 2 wires. A Green and Blue wire (vivid, but not Dark)... they run to a sensor on the drivers side of my Manual transmission, up through that fire wall, hit a connecter under the passenger dash, and i loose it going over the the drivers side.

From what i can tell, It's not Speedometer (i'm running cable), Tach runs to Distributor (brown wire), My neutral switch is in the clutch(?) ...... thinking mabey it's the reverse light switch.....?

I'm looking in My haines and chiltons and i cannot find these wires in the diagrams. Any idea's guys? Thanks ahead of time.

That is just too cool. I have been trying to find where those wires join into the wire harness for a couple of days now. I did the V6multiport to V8 carb and I cut all of the wires comming out of the passenger side. Cut them about 6 months ago and thought that it was only for the computer.

Anyway yes the light green and blue wire that goes into a two prong plug connects to the back up light switch on the side of the transmission.

AHHHh..... your my hero!

Hmm... i'll probably re-run them through the drivers side firewall, so i don't have any wires crossing the passenger side there...

Hey!, it looks like you have the same Non-AC heater box as me...could you please do me a favor and send me some close up shots of the wiring? I'm trying to figure out how to connect the wires for my box, I'm not sure which ones i need to connect...

Would it e possible for you to take a picture of the connector that is under the passenger side dash so that I can see it? I'm in the same boat as Ratchet, except I got a little over excited about my project and jumped in without thinking. I ended up cutting out the whole harness and need to re splice all the wiring back in for the reverse light

Yea guys, i'll get it this afternoon for ya... Probably around 11pm (still working on engine after work)..

But i can tell you this... it runs from the Tranny, up through the passenger quarter panel, down into the cabin, down near the passenger 'kicker panel' (watch it, the wiring harness doesn't come out that way, it's actually removed by pulling it back through to the engine compartment... took me a while to figure that out).... 98% of the wiring harness then goes up to the ecm (behind passenger dash) but a couple wires (1blk, 1brwn, 1pnk/blk, 1blu, 1grn, 1?) splice off and go to two white connectors (should still be right by the wiring harness)... those connectors are ran behind the dash just above the stereo to the drivers side....

Thats where i left off. Those Green and Blue wires are the same color throughout. I'm actually going to re-route mine to run on the drivers side so i don't ANY wires running through that passenger panel.

.......Also, Yea, i'll get the exact wiring to that heater box for ya. But again, I won't have it till 11pm tonight or so.

No pics handy but maybee this will help.

If you are going from AC to Non AC heater box and blower fan do the following:

There are 4 wires that come out of the firewall: yellow, Tan, Lt Blue, and Orange. These wires connect to the Blower Resistor and the fan High speed relay. First of all remove the wires from the plug and cut the orange wire so that it is the same length as the blue wire.

Remove the high speed relay completely

Now install the blower resistor that goes with the non AC box and fan (Three terminals) in the non AC heater box.

Connect the wires to the blower resistor as follows. yellow to C, Tan to A, orange and lt blue to B.

Finally the B terminal is connected to the blower motor and the blower motor is connected to ground.

Be sure to use the existing line with the radio capacitor in it to connect the B terminal to the blower motor.

Thats it. When you operate the fan controls you will have a 4 selector switch with 3 speeds. low medium and two high positions.

here are a couple of links to circuit diagrams that will help
