I am very confused..(door locks)

Ok my friend told me to get eletric locks i have to basically take the whole lock out and plug in a battery i think he said that they were watch batteries. and so i did what he said i pulled my lock out and i took some batteries and tried to tape them in place but nowhere would really hold. Can anyone please help me im tired of not being able to lock the other side. (its an 82 camaro has a V8 i think i also put in a tornado to save some gas).
----------
oh sorry have one more question how do i turn my wheels silver? i tried waxing spitting and cursing at them but nothing.

Good grief--what's your friend smoking! Since you're a new member, let me be the first to recommend the feature on this site. You'll find a wealth of info.

Are you adding power door locks or trying to fix what you got? And a watch battery will not pull in the solenoid.

“Camara” the first letters of a word in France that indicates “friend”.
This was the inspiration for the name Camaro.</FONT>

WOW Nina,
I am impressed with your stats, show some pics of those rides you have and I appreciate a woman with TASTE IN CARS and who knows about them too.
Oh and red_vroom_vroom. power and automatic are one in the same, my advise is use the search button, buy a manual, and prepare for a long haul in third gen mods and ownership, oh and welcome to the boards.

vroom vroom first off, I know the guy that told you what to do is your friend BUT don't listen to what he says about mods, I have never heard of anyone using watch batteries to power power locks. start going to the junkyard and looking for 3rd gens. even if you are not going to buy a part, go out there and look the cars over and try and see how things are put together and how they would come apart. I have learned so much about these cars from simply parting them out for so many years. don't tear into your car unless you are def confident you know how to properly take it apart and put it back together. the reason I say this is it would really suck to tear your daily driver apart and not know how to get it back together and have to pay some jack of all trades to rip you off and fix it for you. personally I don't think power locks are worth the trouble along with power windows especially.they are just another electrical thing to go wrong that can be real tricky to figure out sometimes if its an electrical problem. my 84 Trans Am was fully loaded w/every power option when I bought it 9 years ago, since then I have either removed or converted every power option to manual and would never go back. you will prob not find a guy on here that has ever had a prob trying to get his manual windows up before it rains, but right now a guy on another site was having this very problem with his power windows.happens all to often imo.
