Sup guys, I seem to have a problem i just cant seem to figure out, When i turn on my lights my guages go crazy and my tach freezes, also my right turn signal indicator comes on. If i turn my dash lights all the way off everything is fine, gauges go back to normal turn signal indicator goes off.

I checked the diagrams and checked for any loose grounds but i was wondering if the problem was in the guage cluster because thats the only place where all the circuits come together. Problem is everything behind the cluster looks ok with the exeption of the plastic seperating on that circuit board in back of the cluster. I dont see how there can be a short there but theres no other place that one circuit interferes with the others.

I dont drive the car too much at night so i really have no idea how long its been like that.

hope its the cluster and not a previous owner who messed with the wires.

Try to find a cheap cluster from a junkyard or from the thirdgen.org classifieds and swap it out then try it. Or borrow one from a buddy's car.

Any other symptoms and what year/model of camaro?

 

89 RS, No other symptoms that i can see, everything is fine as long as the dash lights are left off. All the other lights are not effected.I checked as much as i could under the dash but i cant find anything out of the ordinary. Everything is stock,no splices,no aftermarket guages even the radio is stock. Theres a pig tail wired up in the rear for my trailer but that was done a few years ago and i know the problem had to have started in the past few months.
