Got car back after painting, now has electrical glitches

Hi need some help diagnosing this, I got my car back from the painters (after several months). The battery was deado, depite their attempts to charge it. I managed to drive the car home after a jump start and noticed the signals would just stay lit instead of blinking when the revs dropped - I put this down to the dead battery. Anyway, having got a new battery and hooking it up I have found the the signals blink very slowly and also that the park lights (rear and side markers) on both sides are all also dimly flashing. It would appear that somehow the park and turn signal circuits have become cross connected. The painters would only have disconencted the lights (front , rear and side markers) - no other electricals were touched as the engine bay was not re-sprayed (yet). Whilst observing the indicators flashing one of the indicator dash lights blew - something is obviously screwed up. Aside from this all the other light functions work ok eg brakes, park and reverse

Any pointers on what could be wrong? The car is an 83 berlinetta with the combined from park /signal lenses, at the front which I am beginning to suspect could be the problem

It would be great to get some guidance before I start pulling the car apart.

Thanks guys. I have checked all the earths I can find up fron t and ok. Found that two earth wires in the rear were cut and not reconnected so fixed those but now the lhs signals wont work at all and the flasher unit is going flat out. The RHS is working normally though. Oh well I'm gonna strip all the panels out of the rear and trace the wires. what a PITA.
