my fan is not workin. please help this daily driver
I know this forum is for thirdgens but i am an old time member of this site ( you probably dont remember me) and new a lot of good people here so i wanted to try for some help here first.
my sister's 94 v6 camaro is having a problem with the cooling fan. there is no voltage going to the fan. there is, however, voltage going into the relay plug. i switched the relay out with a like relay to see if it would work, but it did not.
what makes this relay turn on? i believe this is where the problem lies.

I assume you have a multimeter and assume there is only one relay. Check resistance for the wire going from the relay to the fan, one of the relay wires should be 0 ohms. Check resistance from ground/chassis of the car, you should have a ground wire for the relay, should be 0 ohms to ground. 2 of the wires for the relay should have +12 to +14 Volts when the fans are trying to turn on. Could be an engine temp sensor gone bad and the pcm is not knowing that the engine is that hot and not turning on the fans.
Another thing - does the fan come on when the A/C is on? If so, then its probably the engine temp sensor. I don't know if there is a separate engine temp sensor strictly for the computer like there is in the 4th Gen LT1 V8's.
You might get more help at Camaroz28.com's message boards for 4th gen stuff.
