no spark-whats wrong?
I have 91 Z28 that won't start. The starter turns over, but no spark from the coil or plug wires (12V at coil). using the chilton manual and a multimeter I thought I diagnosed the problem to be the ignition module, but when I replaced the module the car still won't fire up - the fuel pressure is great, and this happened at the store (no build up of a problem). Plenty of power, plenty of fuel, starter and solenoid work, but no spark.
Any suggestions, anyone had this problem? I have an Accel super coil (external), and the accel module (new), new cap and rotor. Any help would be fantastic.
Thanks!

I have heard alot of horror stories about those accel ICMs. I would get a new GM one. My original ICM just went up last week so I just bought one, it was a few bux more than the Accel, but with shipping for the Accel it was actually cheaper to get the one at the dealer. I did do a search on here and read so many bad news about the Accel ones, I just stuck to the AC Delco factory replacement.

Thanks for the advice to go GM on the ICM, but I just put in a new (accel)one, and it hasn't fixed the problem - still no spark. By the testing I was able to do the coil is good, battery is supplying power everywhere, the ICM is new...I have no idea where to go next. Anyone have a similar problem or a novel suggestion?
Thanks

I would send the Accel ICM back. That's another horry story about them. I have read stories on TGO about peeps installing the Accel ICM and going out to test it out, and it goes up and strands them one the side of the road. Get your money back for the Accel (or cut your losses) and go with a GM one. If you don't trust me, do a search and read them for yourself.

I agree with kris, toss that accel module, get a gm one. Also, If you haven't done it already, check the resistance on your pick up coil, your chiltons book should explain how to do it.

OK this is just a stupid thing. but when y6ou put the cap on, did you put the button through the round rubber thing, or on the bottom of the round rubber thing in the cap.. If you put it through the rubber grommet thing, then the button is not even close to touching the rotor. so of course no spark. I made that stupid mistake on mine but i caught it before i put the cap on. Another thing it could be is the pickup.. if the pickup is completely gone, then it will not let the thing even know to spark.
