How to Jump Fuel Pump Relay to set Fuel Pressure?
I need to get my fuel pressure to a reasonable level...I am alone and cant hit the key then run around to the gauge under the hood and check it
I need to get my fuel pump to run (PRIME) constantly so i can adjust it myself.
What wires on the relay do I need to 'jump' to get the thing to stay on?????
Its a 1991 Z28 TPI with Red, Green w/white stripe, Grey, Black w/white stripe, and Orange wires.

Energizing Fuel Pump
On The ALDL (Diagnostic connector) Pin 7 energizes the fuel pump if you put 12V to it.

Thanks. So I'm correct in assuming Jumping 5 and 6 with a paper clip is the method of checking your codes?

To be honest it doesn't have any markings. The 5 wires coming out the back are Purple, Orange, Brown, Blk w/White stripe, and White w/blk stripe if it helps at all

On The Schematic I'm looking at, Orange should be hot at all times, Red is the Prime Wire, Black/White is the Relay Ground, and Dark Green and Grey Are the Feed for the PCM - This is At the Fuel Pump Relay

Thanks for clearing those up, Ive got my Chiltons and Haynes out now but can't find the diagrams.
It helps a little but excuse my ignorance (i know this is a simple question im sure) what wires would I have to 'jump' on the relay to get it to run all the time? Orange and black/white?

No, you've been awesome help. Sorry for my ignorance but do you happen to know what wires I need to jump on the relay to get the pump to run all the time? The orange and black possibly?

Here's how I Usually adjust my Fuel Pressure:
Bump the starter, This sets the pump to prime. if the pressure is @ 20-30 psi the engine will start, if not, I turn the adjustment screw 1/4 turn in and try it again, the system should hold residual pressure long enough for you to walk around to check the gauge. I Hope this helps more than chasing wires!

well, turning the key on primes it and thats how ive been doing it but along with the 1000 other problems this car has my fuel pressure will immediatly drop 5-10 PSI after the pump stops priming and then steadly drop the pressure from there. By the time i make to to the gauge its already way down so i need it to run constantly since i wont have another friend to help.
but thank you fot the help tonight...looks like i got all your first 6 posts!!!
