92 Camaro Speedometer / Odometer stopped working
92 Camaro Speedometer / Odometer stopped working
I have a 92 camaro RS 8 Cylinder TBI - the speedometer stopped working one day- I was driving down the road and it froze at 33Mph - the odometer and tripometer also stopped working. When the car is powered off, the Speedometer still sits at 33 Mph - I've checked the speed sensor in the tailshaft of the transmission and it checks out okay, no trouble there. What really has me confused is the fact that the speedometer is just stuck at 33Mph. I took the instrument cluster out and the speedometer needle does move freely if you move it with your finger - What could be wrong? Speedometer cluster itself?

If the speedo is pegged at a certain speed, but the odometer doesn't move, then the cluster is bad. Otherwise, the car would rack up milage to the tune of 33 miles every hour that the key is on. This would be the case if your VSS went bad and simply put out a steady voltage that mimicked 33 MPH.

I just posted in the electronics board with the same issue. Did this one ever get resolved??? How did you do it?
