On my 87 5.7 360 IROC, the ignition beep (the beep that comes on when you stick the key in the ignition) stays on a for a really long time, probably a whole minitute after i start the car and drive it. It's pretty loud and annoying. Also, the lights in my dash (SES light, fasten seat belt, hand brake, etc) dont come on at all when i turn on the ignition. I'm thinking these two problems are related but I'd appreciate it if I can get help on at least fixing one them.

Oh and I've checked all the under the dash fuses. They are fine.

And I dont know if this is related but when i turn the car to ACC, the fan comes on. It happens all the time, being that i just bought this car, i was wondering if this sounds normal?

 

Does the fan come on when you start the car? If it does, then it sounds like someone has wired to the fan to run constantly. As for the beep when you put the key in the ignition, that could be a bad ground or a bad audio alarm unit which is located in the convenience center. The convenience center is located under the dash near the drivers right knee.

 

do you think a bad ground or alarm unit would affect the other issue, not having any of SES light, fasten seatbelt, parking brake, etc lights come on?

 

My 92 RS has the same problem, I suspect a bad ground or similar electrical problem. I'm trying to decide which way to go with this problem. Any suggestions??

 

Check your grounds.
