cooling fan wont run

Hello I have a 1992 RS camaro and the cooling fan wont work. The fan wont work no matter what I do. I have changed the cooling fan motor and still nothing happens. The engine goes past 220 degrees and I try to turn the air coditioning on to make the fan work but it doesnt. I have a hunch it may be the relay but I dont know where it is. Could you tell me please
Thanks,Ridge

I thought I had the same problem with my 92 Z. The fan woundn't come on when the gauge was reading well past 220. After some testing, I found that the fan WAS coming on, but the gauge was way off. The fan switch in my car wouldn't close until like 234 or 236, which is the actual coolant temp, but the gauge was reading 260 or above! So I of course I assumed the gauge was right and the fan wasn't coming on, when it was the gauge that was off the whole time.

This could be what you are experiencing, even with the A/C thing. The fans only kick on when the A/C high side gets a little too high, they don't just kick on automatically with the A/C on. They might with the older third gens, but not in 92.

But if it is a relay, it should be located on the firewall, to the left of the brake booster. If you need wire colors, let me know and I will walk outside and take a look at mine.

The relay is found left of the power brake booster, attached to a bracket on the firewall. Also, have you checked the wiring to the fan switch? Have you tested the fan operation by unplugging the fan switch wire and grounding it? Could just be a faulty fan switch.
