2.8 Firing Order(s)?

Put a new cap and rotor on my '85 2.8---marked the wires first. Now that it's together, it's running rough. I notice that the firing order doesn't match that in the Haynes manual. Was there more than one firing order for the 2.8, or what? I'm sure I got them on the way they came off. The old cap 'n rotor look pretty bad, yet it runs worse.

Well, I appreciate the thought----but I had already figured it out. I did what I always do in these situations. I had a couple cans of tilt. Then, properly befuddled, I wandered out and considered the problem. Even though I had been sure I had gotten it back the way it was, I finally realised I had gotten it 1-6-2-3-4-5. So, I swapped the first two, and I was all set. So I had another can o' tilt. What would I do without that stuff?
