CFI owners, help me identify these engine harness connectors!
I just got a CFI harness and I'm trying to identify the connectors. I have a factory shop manual, and a Electronic Fuel Injection & Crossfire Injection manual and I'm still having trouble with some of the connectors!
Trying to clean off 24 years of dirt and grime of the wires to tell what colors they are is really a PITA...even when somewhat clean I still can't tell what colors they are, and the dual colors with stripes are even harder. I believe I have most of them, but if I get some wrong I might have others wrong also.
So far this is what I belive to have identified:
1. TPS
2. MAP
3. EST
4. A/C Engine Jumper
5. Power Feed
6. Injector A
7. Injector B
8. IAC A
9. IAC B
10. Oil Pressure Switch
11. 02 Sensor
12. AIR switch valve
13. ERG Control
Have not identified:
1. Fuel Pump Relay
2. WOT Relay
3. Canister Purge
4. TCC
5. CTS
6. ESC (Knock sensor)
6. AIR control valve
I think I know what connectors are for the fuel pump and WOT switch, but according to my manuals they don't match. The connector with a small pigtail and single connector looks like it should be the WOT relay connector since the pigtail is for the hood induction flap...but the wires don't match what is in the manual. Same with Fuel pump relay connector. It's like they are backwards in my manual. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but those I am not positive on.
photos SIMG005-SIMG0010 show what I'm talking about. Photo SIMG004 shows where they are in relation to the entire harness, with one connector I identified as AIR switch valve. 2 prong connector that isn't black. Not positive if that is correct. photos SIMG005-SIMG006 I have no idea what it is.
photo SIMG002-SIMG003 is a white connector with 3 wires. It is a 4 prong connector but only 3 pins are used. I can't match this with anything. The only thing I can think of is TCC but according to my manual there is only 2 wires to it. I don't know what this connector is.
photo SIMG001 shows the relation to other connectors on the harness. I have identified the Oil pressure switch and EST connector. The white connector comes down where the oil pressure switch is and is very long.
photo SIMG0011 shows a blue connector I have identified as Power Feed, there is also a ground here and a single round connector I have identified as A/C engine jumper. Not sure if either of these are positive. There are also 2 round connectors coming out of the harness at this point and are not connected to anything...it almost looks like they connect together since one is male and one is female. Both round and single wire...not sure if they are to be connected or if something else connects into them. Photo SIMG0015 is another photo of the same connectors.
photo SIMG0014 is what I identifed as ERG control. Is this correct?
Photos SIMG0017-SIMG0019 has 2 connectors, single wire each. One is a small round connector, male and the other is a larger round connector. I thought the larger one might be the CTS connector, Knock sensor. Not sure about the smaller one.
Photos SIMG0020-SIMG0023 shows another connector I cannot identify. It looks like the plastic housing has been damaged and only the inner connector is visible. It has 2 wires going to it and the insulation around the connector has been melted or worn away. I have no clue what this is. It comes out of the same vicinity as what I believe to be the IAC (A) connector.
Photos SIMG0024-SIMG0025 shows some wires that have been cut and taped together. One has 2 wires, the other has 3 wires. Not sure if there were connectors there or not, but there are some I haven't been able to identify because I can't find the connectors. I'm thinking maybe AIR control valve?? or ERG?? I still can't find the canister purge solenoid connector. The one with 2 wires is in the vicinity of one of the injector leads (note the twisted wires for the injector connector) and the 3 wire is just next to the 2 wire but further up the harness.
Also, how does the A/C hook up? Does the A/C have it's own harness, since there is a connector labeled A/C engine jumper? Also what about the AC compressor...it should have a connector also. I have A/C but it has been removed. I didn't notice any A/C components hooked to the engine harness so I will guess it's seperate.
I hope you CFI owners can help me out with this one!! Since I didn't have a harness, tracking these down has been tough. Any help you can give I would appreciate it!!

I went out and took some pictures of the connectors that I could get to relatively easily

Did he happen to pull the build sheet also? I'm still looking for a scan or picture of an 82’ TA with crossfire fuel injection build sheet.
But, back to your question. It's kind of hard to tell from the pictures what some of the connections are I'm hoping you can match them up from the pictures on my page. And you should probably download the pictures because I don't know how long I'll be able to keep the page up.
As far as your pictures go here is what I can tell. I'm not sure what the single connectors are for. One of them should be for the O2 sensor. On the four-cylinder cars the fuel pump relay is next to the power brake booster. I'm not sure where it is on V8 cars. Also I'm not sure where the A/C relay is.
Do you have a picture of the other end of this harness? These wires have to go somewhere; do they go into one big connector?
SIMG0001 - the white connector I believe is for the transmission TCC, the EST wire looks correct and I can’t see the label for the other one but I think that's for the oil sending unit
SIMG0002 – TCC
SIMG0003 – TCC
SIMG0004 - the red connector is for the canister purge, the green one is for MAP, the hood louver relay is the one with the red wire coming off of it and the other one is for the EFE and EGR relay. Not sure about the big one in the middle with four wires and it.
