What the Heck?! Battery/AC/Alt problem

Ok, I'm really stumped with this one. Never seen anything like it and I searched around and couldn't find anything relevant.

I just got finished repair and retrofitting my AC system. I documented everything on here because I needed a little help. You can go back and read some of that if it helps:

So, I've got my AC working and I'm happy as a clam. I go out for a little drive. All of a sudden, while the car is running, all the lights get really, really dim, including the headlights. I check the battery voltage on the dash: it's all the way down, something below 8. I'm thinking, what the hell?! I hit gas at the light and the engine starts surging and stalling, surging and stalling. Huh?! I'm able to get into a parking lot and I get out of the car and pop the hood. I'm looking around, thinking maybe I screwed up something electrical from my AC work earlier. I tried revving the engine at the throttle body. It was still stalling, but when it got it up to about 4-5k rpms, everything came back to life! It stopped stalling and all electrical was normal again... So, I start driving again, and the same thing happens! I try the same thing, but this time the car stalls out and dies. I try to restart it... nothing. Voltage was at about 9-10. I am sitting there just plain puzzled. I called for a jump and got it started again. It started, but it was still in "dim lights, stalling" mode. I tryed revving the engine one more time and it came back up. I drove home and now my car is sitting in my driveway and I'm afraid to go anywhere because I'm ready for it to die again.

What in the holy hell could be casing this? It makes absolutely no sense to me.

Sounds like a loose connection or dying alternator.
