Hey gang,
The last owner of my car did some creative rerouting of the vacuum lines and heating hoses and I'm trying to sort it all out. I think I've got all of the vacuum hoses back in line but I'm having trouble figuring out the wiring to the EGR solenoid. It had been completely removed from my car so after purchasing one online I attempted to reconfigure the correct wiring. After digging around behind the distributor I found the wire that connects the EGR solenoid and have the 2 vacuum lines going in to one side but on the other there is an opening with a clip that I cannot figure out what to do with. When it came in the box the EGR solenoid had a small piece of foam covering the opening which must have been just for shipping purposes since it fell of when I installed it in the car. I also cannot tell how or where I'm supposed to mount the EGR solenoid since the pictures I have are not very detailed. Has anyone had similar problems with this or can help me out with some tips? Any thoughts or comments are appreciated!

I'm not sure about the 88's but on my 86 tpi the egr solenoid mounts on a bracket that is attached to the last two rearward intake manifold bolts on the passenger side.I just tore this whole thing out of my car last weekend so I remember where it all goes.

 

Thanks for the info! Can you tell me what you have hooked up to the solenoid? I have 2 vacuum hoses and an electrical connector but I still have one input on the solenoid that looks like something clips into. Do you have anything similar to this on your '86?

I just went out and checked again.The only things plugged into it are the electrical connector with two wires and the two vacuum lines facing forward and that's it.There is something on the rear facing backwards that kind of looks like a vacuum input with some kind of clip but there is nothing attached to it and is just a plugged blank or something for some other purpose or vehicle.There is nothing connected to it and I'm not even sure what it is or might be...That is all there is to it.

 

Thank you for the information-I would have spent several days trying to figure out what that other plug was for!
