2002 steering control wiring

I just put a 2002 firebird steering wheel with controls in my '88 trans am. I can't figure out which wires comeing from the controls do what job. There is a yellow, grey, black w/white strip, and light green. Also, the other wiring all matched up except the connector below the column. The one on the 2002 is to long to match the '88. If anyone can help it would sure be appreciated.

I figured out the wiring harness is for my wipers and my cruise control, I was told that the 2002 wiper switch inside of the column is incompatible with the motor from my '88. In order for me to retain my wiper functions I have to tear open the column and put the old switch inside of there. Does anyone know anything about this or have any experience with this?

Thanks

Mike
