What's the purpose of the Power Steering wire?

The wire that hooks up to the PS line. This was on the 86 LG4 engine harness.

I have no idea.... But I know my ECM transmits a data flag indicating high or normal power steering pressure.

so, if i converted to a fuel injection system and i have, i probably should remove it?

My PS pump has been acting weird like it's low on fluid but its not low. Kind of whining but not terribly loud.

I'll try finding a bolt to take the place of the switch and try it.
