there is no alternator warning light for a 92 camaro, right? i know earlier models had one, but i cant seem to find one on my dash(with the instrument cluster out). i read that with the key on there should be ~12v at the brown wire on the alternator(3 wire type, red brown and black), but that was for a model with an alternator warning light, so im not sure. I do not have said 12 volts. the fan fuse checks out, and the fan works fine.

all my symptoms mimic that of a burnt alternator warning bulb, but to the best of my knowledge and discernment capabilities, i dont have one! is there likely a freak wiring problem between the fan fuse and the alternator, or do i have a bulb, or is there some similarly functioning circuit that isnt(functioning)?

92 rs with a TPI 5-speed

 

It is actually the Choke light. On Thirdgens the choke light acts as an alternator warning light. Check it. Do a search on Choke light. lots of info here.

oil level(no bulb or provisions though, its an RS)

security
brake
seatbelt



and those are all the lights. they all light when the key is turned on, and i have the cluster out and there arent any other lights except the highbeam and blinker indicators, all of which work.
