electric hatch latch release solenoid

was this some rare item on these cars ?

i have one off a camaro i parted and everytime i try to list it ppl assume that it is a pulldown motor assembly

but it is nothing like that

it is the only one i have ever seen or known of from a third gen f body, but it is extremely commonyl found on other car models, esepcially the caprices and such

all it is is a solenoid and a pull cable, the wire plugs into the tan brown connector there on the end of the solenoid

the button for it was in the glovebox on other models of cars, and in these f bodies it was on the dash i think, i forgot now, or maybe it was on the console too, hmm, i think it depend son the year though, i bet 82 83 84 it was on the switch panel on the dash, and 85 up on the console, but who knows, i forgot now

am, i the only one that has one, or has ever seen one or what?

here it is with the latch assembly and all,

on my 89 TA and 91 bird the switch was on the dash pannel next to the rear defogger switch andhe fog light switch.. my 84 doesn't have this set up, but there is a mounting location under the pannel for one. must've been an option. either way. I've never seen the switch in any other location. I've seen them pretty common on birds but not that much on camaros.

That is the early style hatch solenoid release used with the early slam-lathes. I've seen a few and sold a few. Yes they were rarer than the ones used on the motorized hatch pull-down units.
