Turn Signals won't turn on
Greeting 3rd Gen'ers. 1984 Trans Am. My turn signals won't turn on, not even the dash indicators but the hazards work fine.
My "Chilton" manual shows 2 relays in the "convience center" one for flashers and one for hazards. I can only see one of the round 2 pronged cans. When I remove it the hazards stop working. The wiring colors in the manual don't seem to match up (orange to brown=hazard. I can't find the dark blue to purple=turn signal). TS relay in a diffrent location ?
I think I'd like to test the turn signial switch at the lever. Purple power in, light blue front turn left, dark blue front right, yellow left rear and dark green right rear. Would it be weird for the switch to break on both sides at once?
I think it's my broken brain so some advise would be nice... Rock On people!

Right, brain's da best tool in the box... 1984 84 Trans Am vin code g
I found the missing turn signial relay not in the convience center. The center had 2 two places for relays but only the hazard flasher was wired ( orange to brown ) the other space had no wires. I found the turn signal relay floating near the "center" on a red connector with the dark blue and purple wires. Replaced the relay and the turn signials work again!
I don't think the red connector could fit in the center (as the others don't match) so I let it float mush closer to the other relays as to be spotted easier next time... Best to the 3rd gener's

theres two flashers on GM vehicles
one for hazards and the other for turn signals only
they are usually round and plastic or aluminum
some are square and plastic though, electronic ones
good luck

Thanx for the support Fast68.
I did find the other flasher relay under the driver dash. Someone may have removed the "connector" from the convience center as the plastic back was easy to remove and possibly missing screws.
What a wonderfull web site! Everyone keep up the fine work!!!
