I'm hoping this is the problem why they don't work. my hazard lights flash but the turn signals only light up but never flash. So where is this flasher located, is it in the convienence center or up in the dash somewhere.

The turn signal flasher is either in the conveince center or just to the left of it next to the steering column.I get the hazard flasher and the signal falsher mixed up.But from what you say the flashers are doing sounds like you have a bad bulb.Do either of your turns signals, left or right work?Worst case is a bad turn signal switch in your column. But I'd check the bulbs and the flasher modules first like you are doing.

all turn signal bulbs including front side fender signals flash when moving the turn signal switch to manually make them flash. but if you push down on the switch they just stay lit up but never flash.
also while on the lights subject when i press the parking light switch the head lamps raise however the headlights dont come on until i press on the headlight part of my switch. see this 82 transam has 91 electrical harnesses, so I'm wondering if the headlight thing is acting normal as well.
