Race setup wiring help needed
Race setup wiring help needed
I made a new wiring harness that only has lights, signals and the cluster as well as a radio and power windows.
The battery is in the trunk so I'm wondering about the easiest way to hook up the alternator and starter. I was hoping I can use the wire that runs from the + on the battery to the engine bay to a distribution block. From there hook 1 wire to the starter and another from the block to the alternator. My starter button has a 12 volt source going to it so the other end goes to the starter solenoid. Is that all I need as far as the starting and charging system?
The old alternator had a plug with a few more wires on it, are those needed? I'm assuming 1 is to tell the alternator what the voltage is ( the red one probably ), so can I run that one to my distribution block as well? Thanks.

Someones gotta be able to help me!
For now I ran a 12v+ wire inside the car to my starter button, and back into the engine bay to a relay. The relay has a wire going to 12v+, 1 ground of course and another to the starter solenoid and the 4th comes from the starter button. This should cause the starter to turn on whenever the button is hit correct?
The alternator I just need to figure out what to do with the plug that has the red and black wires. I've heard it's for my guage on the dash, and I've also heard the red wire tells the alternator system voltage. Can someone clear this up?
