VSS problems

hey, im on fbody.com a lot but have a question for you guys...

i was trying to bypass my VSS by adding a switch in the circuit. but im having a problem. I wired everything up correctly but it isnot working

what is weird is, if my circuit was complete, the switch that i added would be lit up. if it were incomplete, i would be throwing a code (24 i believe). neither of these are happening. what gives?

well, how do you have it wired? I'm not sure if the VSS signal is 12 volts, if not, it won't light your 12 volt switch unless you use some relays in the circuit somehow.

You could also go underneath the car, pull the connector off of the vss and see if it throws your code, just to verify that it can be thrown.

You could disable power to the buffer box too.

well i have yet to remove the VSS but that will be tonight.

I was looking online and there was a diagram of the harness for the cpu. It was showning a purple wire for the VSS in the BB9 position and a yellow one in tthe BB10 position. on here it shows on for the A10 position. Was i looking at a TPI diagram? with the purple and yellow wires?

another thing, my TCC hasnt been working for a long time, and i wired that so i could manually lock it up to, i imagine that my selinoid is bad for it to not work, this switch does light up though, sometimes, but the TCC doesnt lock up. so would that bad Selinoid (sp i know) make my VSS not work properly? they are tied together. and i think that the VSS only put out like .5 volts so would a lighted switch be to much resistance and my circuit always be broken? I havent ran it pas 118mph yet, man i got a lot to do!

any help thanks, i imagine that my typing is confusing

The VSS sends a signal to the PCM that pulses at a specific frequency. By-passing it with a switch would send an incorrect constant on signal to the PCM. Thats what those forty dollar by-pass modules do is send this pulsing signal. Sorry if you knew this already.
