hatch light problem

hatch light problem
i switched the blubs checked the fuses labeled lid and tail and nothing the hatch light will not work! its a 92 z28 and it is killing me

Have you checked for 12VDC to the switch?You could have a bad hatch light switch or a bad ground.

A 1992 doesn't have a manual hatch light switch. Those were used through 1989 only. Check that you have power at the red with white-stripe wire. The light is turned on/off by the striker-sensing switch which is next to the latch. If you have power at the red/white stripe wire then the striker-sensing switch may the problem. I sell them on my web site.

were is the wire running to? how do you tell if it has power

Buy a multimeter and hook up the red lead to that wire (+) and hold the black (-) lead to any bare metal on your frame.

Many places. For example Harbor Freight or Radio Shack. I prefer the pocket multimeter Model: 22-820 from Radio Shack. Even a test light would do.
