Temperature gauge.

I have a problem with the temperature gauge in an 82 Firebird. It works fine for a few minutes after driving then It goes into the red and stays there. If I turn off the car and leave it off for ten minutes or so then it reads fine again for a little while. I checked the cooling system and that works fine. I replaced the temperature sender and the gauge itself but that didn't solve the problem. I am wondering does anyone know where the voltage regulator for the gauge is. Is it in the fuse box for all the gauges or are there individual regulators at the back of each gauge.

Thanks.

The gauge works proparly sometimes, Did your gauge stay in the red the whole time or was it intermittent.
