Tachometer Problem

I have an 89 Iroc that is having problems with the Tachometer. Not to long ago I blew a head gasket and had to replace them. Every since then my tach is reading about 1000 RPM higher than what the engine is actually running. Anybody have any ideas what could be causing that???????

Thanks,
Kendal

Might be a silly question but, did the engine ground strap get put back on?

No capacitor. This vehicle has an ignition module in the distributor that has two plugs which connect to the vehicles wiring harness. It also has a seperate coil that connects to the distributor via a coil wire.
