Cluster swap.
I just swapped my 85mph cluster for a 145mph cluster. When I first hooked it up all the dash lights came on. Then like 30 sec after that all the dash lights went dead. I checked the fuses. All are good. Also my temp guage did not work and my oil pressure pegged out at the top. The car is a 87 camaro. The cluster I installed was removed from an 87 camaro. I need to figure this out. Also my ses light does not come on. I have disconnected my egr. It should be on since i did that. Help me out guys. thanks.

I've sold a number of 145 clusters, and my advice to customers was NOT to swap the entire cluster (especially if the customer knew that his original cluster functioned as designed), but only the speedo head. If nothing else, I'd yank the new cluster and swap the 145 into your original cluster--the original worked before, I assume.

Ahhh, well, if you previously had idiot lights instead of gauges, then it's not a direct swap. Check the following guide:

Still my lights won't come on. so I can see the gauges at night. they were on to begin with then they went out. Also my ses light still doesn't come on.

Are you saying you've completed the above modifications, those provided in the link, and you're still experiencing problems? Again, you can't directly swap a cluster with gauges into a car that originally was equipped with dummy lights.

But the lights in the dash should not be off. they came on to begin with when i first put the cluster in then they went out!!!! My ses light never came on with the original cluster in it.

Put your original cluster back in and see if you have lights. My "guess" is that you will.

Does your dome light work? It is funny how GM wiring is. You can have one bad turn signal and your gauges can be jacked. Or your dome light will not work. But am with James on this one. swap the original back in.

All my gauges work. I figured a fuse blow but I checked my fuses. My lights just wont come on in the dash. The dome light works. And my ses light never did work. It's got to be something simple cause the dash lights did come on when i first put the new cluster in. then they just went out like a fuse blew out. I know I'm not the only one that has come across this with a camaro.

I got my lights working. I dropped my starter and fould the wires were burnt. I replaced the wires. Now I need to find out why my battery won't charge. New battery, new alt. I checked the wires from the batt to alt, from alt to starter. and all grounds. All checked out good. I went and got the battery tested it tested good. I pulled the alt this evening going to get it tested one day this week.

i had the exact same problem, actually i found 2 problems, one was my circuit board was shorting out somewhere and making all the guages either not work or go for a **** when you turned on the headlights (ie. my voltmeter was sittin at like 12V, then after i turned on my headlights it would drop down to like 7V, but the car still ran fine, same with oil press). the second problem i found was that if my cluster wasnt pushed in all the way and bolted in by the 2 small nuts then the gages wouldnt work and neither would the lights.

well my temp gauge is not working and i put a new cts in it. I'm thinking they might have given me the wrong one. My voltmeter did start dropping down and it eventually kills my battery. I'm thinking my alt might be defective. I'm taking it to get it tested this week.
