ok. i have a chance to buy an 84 berlinetta with 75 thousand miles on it. the body is good shape and overall its pretty good. heres the problem. while sitting overnight, the battery dies. second, the whole instrument cluster of digital gauges flicked on and off today while revving the engine, and then didnt work at all. also, i can not shift into drive. the shifter will move no foot on brake, but will not go into gear. please help!!

Battery drains can be easily found. Most posts about such things here seems to end up with the generator being the culprit. Other electrical issues are also usually not expensive or difficult to fix, but to find it might require a bit of understanding, patience, & effort on your part. The shifter problem might be a linkage break to the tranny, or it could be a faulty tranny. I would not hesitate to buy the car if it's just a linkage problem.
