IROC-Z Tach/Oil Press guage stuck. Frustration!
Guys,
I made the mistake of pulling the tacho/oil pressure guage from the connectors in the back of the console (it worked fine before i touched it, then made the mistake of messing with it). Now all the tach does is stay at about 3000rpm (on or off, the tension of the needle keeps it there), and the oil pressure doesn't move from zero.
I didn't change anything, what could have gone wrong?! I'm thinking something simple... Argghh!
Any suggestions?!?!?

Pull in out again and when you reinstall it make sure all the screws are correctly placed inside the the clips on the cluster. It sounds like maybe you missed either the Ignition or ground connection.
It's worth a try.

Ok, the screws seem to have been located ok. Would any wires (ground, etc) be easily broken/dislodged maybe? It's pretty hard to get up behind the dash to check stuff out, and i couldn't find anything in the big service manual...

Ok, solved. Dodgy wire harness. I hate electrical gremlins...
