i melted my alt, keep blowing a fuse and it wont fire

its a 88 2.8 mpfi, i just bought it, i was driving and the interior light flicked, a few seconds later. i heard a click and it died and wouldnt start. it triggered a ses light. i checked the fuse panel and there is a f pump/inj 1 and above that is a inj 2 fuse. 10A. this is the one that keeps blowing.

i replaced it and it cranks, reaks like gas, but wont fire up. so i try bigger fuses. and they blow just when i roll the key over. so i got a jump and it wouldnt fire. and finally it did. call it luck, but i unplugged the egr valve and got a friend to plug the port and it worked. plug it back in. drive it home, light flicks again. park it shut it off, wont fire. get another boost it fires and then the alternator melts!!! replace the alternator, hook up a boost, and it keeps blowing that same fuse. i can hear the fuel pump prime when i roll the key over, but that ses light stays on and it keeps blowing that inj fuse. i know its flooded but it keeps blowing that fuse and im baffled. i grounded the ecm and the ses light flashes, long pause, flash flash, and repeats. i dont know how to diagnose an error code. i dont have a voltmeter, an ob reader. and im left needing some answers. anyone???

there has gotta be a intermittent wire rubbing the chassis. Don't put in larger fuses or keep trying to jump it unless you want a fire. If i were you, I would buy a voltmeter and attempt to trace the short. Wiring shorts are very frustrating, but cheap and easy once you find the problem. Good luck.

im dumb when it comes to electronics and wiring. so a bare wire? must be rubbing somewhere. and ideas as to where it would be and what to look for in specifics? how would i properly trace it using a voltmeter? the pass and driver side wires are exposed under the dash.but nothing seems loose or anything.

if i keep blowing my inj 2 fuse. in theory, is this where the problem most likely lies?
