deck/spedo problem

Transmission: TH-700-R4
Axle/Gears: 3.23
deck/spedo problem
ok, 92 ta. i jsut got a new deck for x mas, so i decided to put it in on my time off. when i installed it, i did something wrong because my spedo died, but when i put 2 wires together from behind my deck, the spedo kicks to life. anybody had this problem?
