Just put the resistor across the two wires on the auto mobile side of the harness coming from the column.That should work for you.

I tried to get a Reading from the wires coming out of the column and I got nothing. I tried putting a resistor in and it didn't work. Does the resistor have to the exact same as the key? I got a reading of 1480 from the key and I bought 1500 resistors and the security light stays on.

I made a drawing of what you need to do. 1500 should be close enough unless 1480 was already on the high end of the toleance.
