Fast Blinking Check Engine Light

I changed the computer in my 1991 Firebird today and everything runs but, I now have a fast blinking check engine light. How do I fix this problem? Do I have to get a code reader to reset? Help!!!

that's means a major failure, could be misfire, emissions. You're car would need to be scanned with a scan tool and then fix the problem. It's probably operating in safe mode now to reduce any major engine damage.

The fast blinking light also can indicate a improperly seated prom. I would disconnect the battery, unplug and re-plug all the ecm connectors and check to make sure the prom is seated properly.

i don't know how but i missed the part about changing computers, the major failure doesn't seem to be it. Probably your connections.
